Since the mid 1980's the Yerington Rotary Club has offered scholarships to help local students afford post high school education.  Over the years this program has expanded in the number of scholarships and the amount of money awarded each student.  The program currently awards at least seven scholarships valued at $19,000 each year.

The Yerington Rotary Club also supports several programs aimed at providing training, experience and rewards for local youths while they are still in local schools.  One of the most popular programs with students is the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp held each summer.  At this one week camp for Juniors, students are given an intense leadership building experience.  Almost all students who attend this camp describe it as a life changing experience.  A recent spin off from the RYLA program for Juniors is a similar program for students starting 8th grade.  Another program is the Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) where a local student is sent to live in a foreign country and a student from a foreign country is brought here to live and go to school.  A popular locally run program is our Student of the Month program involving YHS and ROP students.  In this program school faculty choose students who "deserve to be recognized and rewarded for their efforts".

These programs and others are described more fully in the sub pages to this page.
